Cole Slutzky is a NYC-based Director of Photography. He also dabbles in editorial and color correction.

Growing up in what is often translated as "the most beautiful new land", New Jersey provided Cole with true beauty in many forms. Spending summers at "The Shore", he was captivated by the ocean from an early age, swimming and surfing as much as possible. Wanting to spend even more time around the sea, and science being his favorite subject to learn, he figured he would be a marine biologist. At 16, he traveled on a research trip to Belize studying manatees. While his love for science and oceans grew dramatically on that trip, it was photographing the experience, people, and travel (also not being good at math) that set off the lightbulb or flash tube... photography became everything,

He studied at [ THE ] Rochester Institute of Technology, where a tech-focused curriculum made Cole fall in love with the intricacies of the studio. He often spent weekend-long benders moving around C-stands and experimenting with light. In 2011, after 4 short years, the cold, soulless hands of reality and adulthood handed Cole a diploma. He was forced away from academia and began to work commercially in the concrete jungle of NYC.

Still drawn by the enchanting pull of the ocean, Cole loves to film surfing and ocean-related content...and can be hard to reach with a hurricane in the vicinity. Outside camera and ocean activities (or being forced to sleep), he can be found working in the garden or continuing to learn, getting lost in books and tutorials on color correction + color science, climate change, meteorology, and oceanography. He prefers "al Dente" music — something with that spice and emotion.
